COMMUNITY INPUT

The City is committed to planning these projects in collaboration with immediately adjacent property owners (U of M, Ann Arbor Golf & Outing and Ann Arbor Railroad); area stakeholders and the larger community.  It is the City’s goal to create a project that meets community needs and expectations and is planned, designed and constructed in a cost-effective manner.

PUBLIC WORKSHOPS

Public workshops will be scheduled throughout the planning process to solicit input and provide information.  The following workshops are currently planned:

  • Workshops #1 and #2.  Alternative Approaches to the Project
  • Workshop #3.  Preferred Approach
  • Workshop #4.  Design Alternatives
  • Workshop #5.  Preferred Design
  • Workshop #6.  Preliminary Design

Because funding is likely to be committed for the S. Main non-motorized improvements before funding is secured for the E. Stadium improvements, a two-track schedule is anticipated after Workshop #3.

CITIZENS ADVISORY COMMITTEE

A Citizens Advisory Committee (CAC), made up of interested volunteers, will be established after the first two public workshops by City Council.  The CAC will meet regularly with the design team to review workshop input and make recommendations on alternatives and preliminary design plans.

STAKEHOLDER MEETINGS

The design team will also meet with immediately adjacent property owners and public agencies (for example, Ann Arbor Transportation Authority, Ann Arbor Public Schools, Fire and Police Departments) to discuss issues and opportunities as they arise.

PLANNING COMMISSION AND CITY COUNCIL

Planning Commission and City Council will also receive regular updates on the progress of planning and design.  Ultimately the City Council will decide whether the projects will move forward and what form they will take.

PROJECT MAILBOX

A Project Mailbox is also available (see home page) so that citizens can ask questions and offer comments about the project.

FUTURE MATERIALS

A link to the display graphics used at Workshops #1 and #2 can be found on the Project Updates page of this website.
